Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy involves the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction which may be related to
an acute or chronic process. OMT can be helpful in treating some forms of back pain, chest tightness from asthma or sinus disease,
as well as other musculoskeletal problems. OMT may utilize passive thrusting techniques or soft tissue manipulation.
OMT
begins with a structural exam assesment. Once the structural abnormality is identified, Dr. Dramis will apply manual force in
varying degrees to your body's affected areas to relieve restrictions and misalignments. Based upon the complexity or severity
of your problem, you may require more than one treatment.
The effectiveness of OMT has undergone scientific studies. A
study published November 4, 1999 in the New England Journal of Medicine shows OMT to be an effective form of medical treatment.
OMT
may or may not be covered by your health care insurance.
